PCOC November 2021 General Membership Meeting

On Tuesday, November 09, 2021, the Palau Chamber of Commerce held a productive monthly General Membership Meeting at the Waves Restaurant located at Palau Royal

Resort.

The special guest speaker for the PCOC meeting was Mr. Santy Asanuma, Chairman-National Governing Board of the Palau Red Cross Society, along with his Team; and he

provided an exceptional presentation about the Red Cross Society’s origin in Switzerland and how the Palau Red Cross Society was established in 1997 through a joint resolution

by the Palau National Congress. Chairman Asanuma also shared about the crucial work of the Palau Red Cross Society up until this present day and what the current activities are that PRCS is involved in inside the Republic of Palau.

Chairman Asanuma further mentioned that the very first Red Gala Fundraiser for the Palau Red Cross Society (after 24-years of being in existence) was scheduled to be held at the Ngarachamayong Cultural Center on the eve of December 02, 2021, but it has been postponed until further notice due to the passing of Paramount Chief Ibedul Yutaka M. Gibbons. High Chief Ibedul Yutaka M. Gibbons and Rubekul Belau were the ones that had worked hard to ensure that the Palau Red Cross Society becomes an auxiliary arm of the Republic’s National Government as a humanitarian organization for the benefit of all who live in Palau, to help those who are suffering or are in need. High Chief Ibedul Yutaka M. Gibbons himself was a huge patron and supporter of the Palau Red Cross Society.

The PCOC General Membership acknowledges and mourn with the Family because Gibbons Enterprises Inc., the company of Paramount Chief Ibedul Yutaka M. Gibbons has also been a long-time member of the Palau Chamber of Commerce.

On behalf of the General Membership, PCOC President Irene Olkeriil thanked PRCS Chairman Santy Asanuma and his Team; as everyone applauded the beginning of a beneficial, teamwork oriented and action-focused partnership between the Palau Chamber of Commerce and the Palau Red Cross Society for handling disaster resilience within the Republic of Palau.
