PCOC May 2022 General Membership Meeting & New Board Members Election

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022 the Palau Chamber of Commerce held a productive monthly General Membership Meeting at The Taj Palau.

The PCOC welcomed USAID Local Coordinator Ms. Paula Miller as special guest speaker for the month of May.

Ms. Miller gave a very informative and interesting presentation to the 30 PCOC members present. She touched on the current endeavors that USAID is pursuing in Palau, as well as future projects.

USAID’s three pillars include strengthened community resilience, economic growth and improved democratic governance.

The main projects that USAID is involved in Palau at the moment are in the areas of climate change, coastal fisheries, submarine cable and governance.

USAID also played a crucial role in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Surigae with financial and in-kind help to Palau.

The meeting turned out to be very well attended and productive; and on behalf of the Palau Chamber of Commerce membership, President Samuel Scott and Vice President Irene Olkeriil thanked the guest speaker for attending and giving the PCOC the opportunity to learn about USAID.

On another note, the PCOC Board of Directors welcomes the two newly elected Board Members: Ms. Yumie Morishita from Palau Pacific Resort and Mr. James Ku from PIE Printing!!
