On Tuesday, April 19, 2022 the Palau Chamber of Commerce held a productive monthly General Membership Meeting at Waves Restaurant, Palau Royal Resort.
The PCOC welcomed Koror State Governor Eyos Rudimch as special guest speakers for the month of April. Governor gave an introductory speech and then the floor was open to questions, facilitated by Board Member Ilebrang U. Olkeriil.
The questions included the future plans for Koror State, possible partnerships with the Palau Chamber of Commerce and the Palau Private Sector at large, support for the creative industry, as well as clarifications regarding the current proposed Senate Bill 11-9 (increase in minimum wage) and the status of yacht fees in the Republic of Palau.
The meeting turned out to be very well attended and productive; Governor Eyos remarked multiple times his willingness to create partnerships between Koror State Government and the private sector, the importance of working together with all State Governments and National Government to help with the economic recovery.
After Governor’s section, the membership proceeded to discuss current topics such as the minimum wage bill, the proposed fees on foreign workers, the proposed reopening of the PNMS and the wrapping up of the Our Ocean 2022 Conference.
On behalf of the Palau Chamber of Commerce membership, President Samuel Scott and Vice President Irene Olkeriil thanked the guest speaker for attending and Ms. Williams for her efforts on improving Palau’s current situation.
The next PCOC General Membership Meeting’s will take place on May 10, 2022, starting approximately at 11:30 AM, venue to be announced.
